[PainCube R&D] August Monthly Research Meeting Through Global Collaboration
Review of Korea–U.S. clinical data development, AI model development, and future joint research directions through the PainCube August R&D meeting
On August 21, StellarCube held its monthly R&D meeting for PainCube, our AI-powered platform designed to quantify and predict pain and support clinicians in making decisions on analgesic administration.
PainCube is a Korea–U.S. collaborative R&D project led by StellarCube together with Korea University Anam Hospital(KU) and Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
StellarCube leads the development of PainCube with a focus on AI model development, data infrastructure, and data processing, while KU and JHU are responsible for building clinical datasets and conducting clinical research in Korea and the U.S., respectively.
During our August meeting, we shared research progress across the participating institutions and had in-depth discussions on clinical data development, the direction of our AI-based pain quantification and prediction models, and the next steps for our joint research.
With clinical data collection now well underway and the direction of our AI model development becoming more clearly defined, we’re continuing to strengthen the foundation for PainCube’s technology advancement and future clinical validation.

- JHU: Completed the extraction of waveform and clinical data from 1,010 patients
- KU: Data extraction from more than 100 patients currently in progress
- Continuing data cleaning and analysis using clinical datasets from both Korea and the U.S., while expanding the foundation for follow-up research
- AI Model
- Applying a multimodal analysis architecture that integrates both ECG and PPG
- Advancing the analysis of pain-related time-series patterns and model performance using a CNN + Transformer hybrid architecture
Through continued collaboration with our research partners, StellarCube will keep advancing PainCube’s technology and step-by-step clinical research and validation, working toward more objective and proactive pain management—and ultimately, a world where no pain goes untreated.
